The heat, and what it does to the size of the system
Summers run over 100°F with strong afternoon winds, and winters drop below freezing, so many High Desert homes use electric heat pumps or space heating as well as AC. The usage curve has two peaks, not one. We size from a full year of bills so both seasons are covered, and the arrays are mounted for the wind loads the valley sees.
Roofs in Victorville
Most Victorville and Hesperia tracts are 1990s and 2000s concrete tile, which the installing crews lift and reset around every mount. Apple Valley has more custom homes on larger lots, often composition shingle, and some ranch properties take a ground mount instead of a roof array. Older homes in Old Town Victorville and along Bear Valley Road may need a roof first.
Permits and turning it on
Permits go through the City of Victorville, the Town of Apple Valley, or the City of Hesperia, each with its own building department. Unincorporated areas like Oak Hills and Phelan permit through San Bernardino County. The installation partner handles all of them and files the Edison interconnection.

A fridge, lights, internet, and a well pump can run for a day or more. The AC or a heat pump is the big draw; one Powerwall carries it on most homes for the evening, and two carry it longer. We tell you honestly what your house needs before you sign.
Do you do ground-mount systems on larger lots?
Yes. Apple Valley and Phelan properties with room and an older roof often make more sense as a ground mount. Send a bill and a photo of the lot and we’ll say which one fits.
Is the High Desert too far from Fontana?
